How I work

I like mechanisms: linkages, levers, cable systems, anything where geometry turns one motion into another. I start with requirements, model the design in SolidWorks and check its motion, then build a prototype and let it tell me what I got wrong.

Design review and the shop have taught me that a part isn't done until it can be made and assembled. That's why I care about tolerances for real fit and keeping designs simple enough to manufacture.

What I'm interested in

I'm looking for co-op roles where I design parts and then see them made. CAD design, manufacturing and machining are the areas I most want to grow in.

I've started on the lathe through machine shop training with Formula Electric and Concrete Toboggan, and I want more time in the shop. Knowing how a part gets made changes how I design it.

Outside engineering

I'm a basketball addict. I play whenever I can, follow the NBA closely, and spend more hours on NBA 2K than I'd like to admit. Away from the court I'm usually gaming or watching movies.
